Here is where you will put your finished 9" x 12" pieces. Please leave this as a "no chatter" thread - ooohhhs and aaahhhs can be posted as comments to the initial thread, but not as a "new post". This will make it easier for me to draw the winner's name.
I look forward to seeing your pieces!
PS - please don't be offended if I move chatter posts to the chatter page.
ETA: New picture, taken outside - not on an orange foam blocking mat. Closer to the real color.
Finished my first rectangle. It is prettier when stretched open, it's kind of stretchy like ribbing. So, I don't use acrylic much. This measures about 8-1/2" but easily stretches to 9" and looks better stretched. Do I attempt to block it or let the blanket assembler stretch it as she assembles? Also, this picture doesn't show that it is a dark teal.
My "Americana" piece... knit using Red Heart Super Saver "Americana" yarn in patriotic stripes of red, white, and blue.
This piece is done in simple, stable, seed stitch.
If it does not fit in with the blanket's overall design aesthetic, maybe it could be a small pillow... or part of a pillow?
pinesprairie - 3rd time's a charm! I reworked mine twice... this piece was my third go at it... simple seed stitch, 32 stitches.
LOL, I felt like Goldilocks: 1st one was too wide, 2nd attempt was too narrow... this one seemed just right.
Colorwise, I think there may be a teal (it looks blue in the posted photo but is described as teal), so if your creation in dark teal was working out ok size-wise... I'd say, stick with it. Or, if you're up for it, try making two pieces... one in dark teal, one in white...?
qfknit, that's exactly what happened on my first two attempts and then unthinkingly, I picked a different stitch which was too wide on the first go...so now for the too narrow go and eventually it'll get there. I'll go after navy-ish blue for the next square.

pinesprairie - I am proud of you, choosing another knit stitch!
I had two motifs selected, planned to add a seed-stitch border on each... but after so much fiddling and re-work on the first piece in just plain seed-stitch, I am undecided as to whether I can spare the time for more experimentation. We'll see how other things progress as the weeks go on, and how much additional time I can find to dedicate to this project.
Meanwhile, I am looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with! Very interesting pieces so far!
My first piece is finished, Red Heart Super Saver. It's crochet in a shell pattern. I did a lot of ripping trying to find a pattern the correct size for the 9 inches 😕. The color in this picture is pretty true, looks much like the square made by lovestostitch 😊. Now on to my knit pattern.

I finished up 2 blocks for the birthday afghan project. I used my favorite 9x9 blocks by Polly Plum of Every Stitch on the Hook - Blizzard Warning & Victor and extended them to the required 9x12 block. All Caron Simply Soft.

Second square finished. This is the same dark teal as my other square - see post #4 for color. I think my orange blocking mat is making it look so blue.
Just finished my enterlac block, it's not blocked yet but will be 9x12 easy. I'm thinking it might be a little puffy mixed in with the others so I'll try to figure something else just in case. The yarn is Red Heart soft baby steps.
Here's 1 of 3 (maybe 4, who knows)...this is a setup for the next ones. The front and back are the same. I used some Caron Simply Soft and Lion Brand Heartland. It's got the white and navy blue for qfknit and there's a gray and a deep purple next to the navy that doesn't show very well here for Char's Fiberkind piece.
Thanks for the kind comments. I was a little worried because all the knit ones are such show pieces and I surely can't beat TexasPurl's beauties! qfknit, thanks... and just so you know, I'm a "wish I was a real knitter" knitter. I think I remember how to cast on and knit and purl but beyond that...nothing. Someday!
I finished an embroidered block for the project and have another waiting to be stitched. I hope this isn't too over the top for you. I'll included both when I send them to be joined.
