2020 Holiday Craft Along - Finished Thread

Please enter your finished handmade objects here.

I will keep a spreadsheet showing where everyone is that should allow you to view the spreadsheet, track where you are, and make sure I have everything accurate. Points will be awarded as follows (one point each):
    1. Starting a project (date, pic of materials/tools before you start)
    2. Finishing a project (pic of finished project - projects started before November 1st may still be entered, and accumulate a point for finishing the project)
    3. Your finished item is a gift
    4. Your finished item is a charitable donation
    5. You used a pattern designed by a Fiberkind member (marketplace or not)
    6. You feel like your finished item is large enough you deserve an extra point for an extra "large" project - please express why and it will be reviewed. I've been trying to decide how to "quantify" this and I can't think of a reasonable way. So - plead your case if you feel like you need to, and we'll go from there.
    7. If you used a yarn from a dyer or wool provider on Fiberkind
Please post all information in one post. Be sure to bring the "chatter" to the chatter thread for random drawings!!! Ooohhhhhs and Aaaahhhhh over finished projects are always awesome too.

I look forward to seeing all of your works of art!

(If the mod of another make along allows, you may “double dip” here )
    Knitting is happening here! ❤️

    My points for this are:
    1) started 11/1/2020 - per Char ok to post w/o pic this time
    2) Finished 11/3/2020
    5) FiberKind designer

Love this!! Great design, calm & cool colors! I've love to try this, never felt I really got the hang of tunisian crochet though.

My first completed item is a scarf for charity. Yarn is Regia sock, two strands together to make a nice medium weight, warm scarf.

I forgot to post my first FO! This was started on Nov 1 and finished on Nov 3 for hubby's birthday. I forgot to take a starting photo or... didn't yet know I was supposed to? And I don't know if birthday gifts get the extra point for "gift." So I'm not sure what my points will be. 1, 2 or 3? We have several November-January birthdays and then several in February too so I will definitely be making some b-day gifts. Lol

I wanted a nightstand placemat because my clock and electric blanket controller constantly slide off my nightstand. My first one was done before the holiday MAL so it doesn't count for points.

This is a picture of my first attempt. I like the frame but the edges curl like crazy. I'm going to try crocheting a border to see if it holds the edges down.

knitter131 - Even though I like the frame design, the garter stitch one is more substantial and stays in place better. I was thinking these would make nice placemats for the kitchen table. Sugar 'n Cream washes up so nicely.

I need to do something like this for my side table. The cats are Cindy's knocking everything off of it because it's so slippy. I actually like the look of the garter one better for some reason.

Does this count as one point for a finished object?

I added a double row of crocheted border. One row didn't help - two helps but this guy wants to curl!

I think I might make one that’s a sport weight acrylic so it won’t shrink. Now and then I spill a little, and would work good for me to use the acrylic 😊. I have two tables in my bedroom, plus a little corner table. This is such a good idea!

knitter131 - I used acrylic to make a smaller one to test if having something on there would keep the clock and blanket controller from sliding around. I did use a worsted weight. It turned out nice. After washing and drying the cotton, I think acrylic would be my recommendation for a nightstand cover but I would use the cotton for a kitchen table placemat. I think cotton for the kitchen placemats would be better because of hot dishes being set on them. The downside to the cotton is it was harder to get them totally dry after washing. My dryer didn't sense enough moisture and kept shutting off but I thought they still felt damp and didn't want to put them on a wooden surface. I ended up laying it on my wire closet shelf for a day to totally dry.

lovestostitch yes, I’ve found the same problems with the cotton yarns. My kitchen and bath hand towels and cloths are all handmade with cotton. Makes for an extra half hour of drying time. I have some nice Dk weight that should work up good.

I started this scarf this morning, yarn is a soft sport weight, a granny style. Fun and quick to make. It will go to charity, our local homeless shelter.
