    September 2020 Monthly Chatter

Hello! I am a bit tardy of all things that happen on the first of the month! LOL

Well, the kids are back to school (in person) and doing well. I’m (nearly) done with 2021 budgeting (thank goodness) and I’m watching Harry Potter with my son. For the... 10th time I am guessing. Maybe more.

Please let me know if you have a September birthday so I can send you a crown made by qfknit - we want all of you to be royalty for a day!

Be sure to share what you are working on, or if you just need to chat.

I finished my block for the 3rd week of Tunisian crochet, and just loving it.

I have ventured into making a shawl, taking things we have learned, and expanding just a touch. Here is an early peek:

I really need to tuck in the ends. There are a bunch from my changing my mind in the pattern so often. :-)

It is a fingering weight 100% cotton. I believe it is called Trend Yarns. It came with 6 25g balls, and the colors will fade light to dark. :-)

Yikes, I feel like I'd better hurry and get everything done before winter. We're down in the mid-50's at night already (49 Thursday night) and back to long pants & tops. How did this happen so quickly?

sheiskanen - I love different seasons. Some people hate Chicago winters but I enjoy it. In the summer, I work hard tending to my vegetable and flower gardens. In the winter, I relax, knit and eat all the garden goodies I preserved.

lovestostitch - it must be rewarding to have a garden and be able to enjoy the "fruits of your labour" - then you know exactly what's in them

They certainly do, I watch them at their house, so whatever they want to play is what we do. I just got the baby down for a nap. Our son and daughter-in-law are three for three when it comes to girls who fight sleep.

Kathy7661 - Sorry to hear you injured yourself. I hate not being able to knit in the evenings. Maybe a fun movie? I watched Dr. Thorne on Amazon Prime last night. If you are a Downton Abbey or Jane Austen lover, you would like it. It is broken into episodes but I think it was only four so not super long.

Well, as much as I am trying to reduce my WIP’s, I do have two new projects I started this week:

This is a two strand tweed with a wool/rayon blend. Both strands are light fingering.

I pulled out some baby yarn from my stash and decided to practice weaving some more. This will be one of two scarves that I'll make for my twin granddaughters. I made one for their older sister and they both said "not fair!" I think I have the basic weaving down, not
perfect but I'm ready to learn more complex techniques. A visit to the Woolery web site is in order

KnitsWithHorses No worries, we have all sorts of the good snakes here also. I'll take spiders, bugs, wasps, mice, etc. but snakes are just not my friends. I come upon them sunning on the rocks & down in the swamp area and they startle me every single time. I don't really have nightmares (any more).

Isn't it crazy how some cameras can completely change colors? My daughter is a professional photographer so I have learned a few strategies but unfortunately just plain old good picture taking skills have not found me.

Steph - I get the truest colors when I take things out to my porch. It has good natural light but not glaring sun. I also noticed that the background color makes a huge difference. I was taking photos of something on an orange foam tile and the color looked totally off.
