You guys have been so busy! I'm sitting here writing little notes for packages I am sending out - and wouldn't you know it - about 75% of the time I forgot to put the note inside and had to open the package. Grrr....

I need to be crafting but instead I've been shopping (on the phone) for a new window. I can't believe the cost increase in the same brand and style of window since we last bought one in 2013. Hubby will install it but the cost of a big window, supposedly on sale, is terrible.

The good news is that it is for my craft room and after the window is installed, I will get my wall of cubbies built around it!

The bad news is that my hubby, who keeps his work space very organized and neat, surveyed my craft room and said I have to move out. Ugh! Since the walls need painting too, it's a good idea to vacate.

Char - we have another bedroom set up with a big desk, computer and printer. I'll have to put my sewing machine on that desk. My comfy chair and a small tv will have to be moved in too. Oh - and a dog bed!

KnitsWithHorses - it will be so nice to have a window that operates smoothly. It is a triple unit with two casement windows that crank open but they stick so if I want to open the window, I have to take out the screen and give the window a push while I crank it. I'm looking forward to just cranking it open.

My crafty WIP is a few quilt tops. I’m hoping to quilt and finish them this weekend.

Anyway - here is one I started yesterday:

hereami I’m not sure if there are official names or not. I found someone who likes testers for her quilts that uses the Accuquilt system, so I help her a lot.

95% of the quilting I do is cut from the Accuquilt cutters. Cutting takes a ton of time, and this reduces that by a lot. I have a die I can cut enough 2.5” strips for binding a queen size quilt in about 2 minutes total. And most of that time is lining up by fabric on the cutter.

hereami there are lots of blocks with names, many have multiple names. Ohio Star, Log Cabin and Flying Geese are very common and each state has at least one block.

I darned my first hand knit pair of socks today. These socks are one where I spun the yarn too... the part on the heel was wearing really thin and so I did some duplicate stitch.

Here is one sock done, and one sock to do.

I used some handspun yarn which I spun this week. The fiber I got from a special someone who wishes to remain anonymous, but I had fun spinning the fiber on my turkish spindle

    WIP Wednesday:
I did my usual "start new, small projects" while trying to finish some larger projects. I landed on the moon when I purchased yarn for a challenge on a YouTube channel, and I am hoping to return to earth (use up an equivalent number of skeins) by the end of the month.

It's been a slow crafting week for me. I did get some skeins plied yesterday and washed this morning. Also washed my wool socks. But ... that's about the total of my craftiness. I have a writing deadline for the next couple of months, so it's going to be like that for a while. But on a good note, I DID reach almost 9,000 words in my book!

Not how I planned to spend my Friday afternoon. An older lady turned right in front of me. I had nowhere to go and no time to stop. Both of us are bruised and sore, but we both walked out of it. She drove a small car and it's totaled, so I'm very glad that she wasn't hurt worse. She's 14 years older than me. It could have been far, far worse.

I name my trucks too. And I literally refer to them by name all the time. I had to declare two of them beyond saving last year and people look at me a bit strange when I say how much I miss Jolene and Tango. Lol. I really need another truck!

KnitsWithHorses, my doctor is a D.O. She did an OMT treatment on me today - so much better than a chiropractor! She had to put one rib back in place and unfreeze my collarbone, then she worked the whole length of my spine from skull to waist. I'm on a heating pad now, but it's starting to feel better.

The Mountain (a poem by Laura Ding-Edwards)

If the mountain seems too big today

        then climb a hill instead;

        If morning brings you sadness

it’s okay to stay in bed.

If the day ahead feels heavy and your plans feel like a curse,

        There’s no shame in rearranging,

        don’t make yourself feel worse.

If a shower stings like needles

        and a bath feels like you’ll drown;

If you haven’t washed your hair for days,

        don’t throw away your crown!

A day is not a lifetime.

        A rest is not defeat.

Don’t think of it as failure,

        Just a quiet, kind retreat.

It’s okay to take a moment

        From an anxious, fractured mind.

The world will not stop turning

        While you get realigned!

The mountain will still be there

When you want to try again

You can climb it in your own time,

        Just love yourself till then!
