    April - Safe at Home

I hope all are remaining safe at home, healthy, and you and your loved ones are the same. We all share a love of crafts, and likely that is helping us through this tough time we are all going through. I've loved how this community comes together in charity and love. I think we are all support for each other. I love seeing photos of everyone's WIPs and finished objects, or just chatter!

So - let's blast this thread with everything we are working on, or pics of fun things you and yours are doing to make the best of things. (Random drawings will be from this thread in April - one final drawing was done for the remainder of the March threads.)

You can find the original March Craft Month thread here:

Here's a crochet shawlette I started last month. It's out of a #2 weight acrylic, very soft. The pattern has a unique construction to come up with the crescent effect. I enjoyed it and will very likely make it again.

I also just started a pair of socks this morning for the April Sock KAL. Regia Baby Smiles in 25 gram balls. I'm making "Jacquard and Stripes" pattern, using stripes from both yarns.

I've come to the conclusion that collecting yarn, and using yarn are two entirely separate hobbies.

So, I'm trying to remember what yarn you used--was it something like Peaches N Cream? Or was it something smaller than that?

The cream and blue one is Peaches and Cream, the other two are I love this cotton. I'm still using the 8/4 cotton I have to warp.

I am working on a big cushy blanket this month. The pattern is from Yarnspirations and titled Diamond in the Rough. The yarn is Bernat Blanket in color silver steel. I plan the size to be 5' x 6'. When finished it'll be for my daughter who has 4 dogs so I'm gonna call it diamond in the ruff

I have been working on my (worsted) battenberg blanket. I generally take time in the mornings at my desk to weave in the ends. :-)

I am about 1/4 of the way through the blanket. :-)

These ladies are all so right! The Internet has tons of great sources of inspiration! But my problem is, I find myself wasting some pretty precious crafting time just looking at other people's projects, so I make myself shut off the computer and go get to crafting! There's nothing like getting that first step going that inspires you! So get your inspiration, then get some real yarn in your hands--it's amazing what tactile therapy can do for you!

I'm glad you're feeling inspired again, knitting is helping me so much right now, as is watching some of the classes on Bluprint. Spend some time with your stash and see what speaks to you.

So - I need something different to think about. What is everyone's favorite color? Any particular reason why?

Mine? Green. I believe the reason is when I was a teen, I was reading a book (I want to say it was A wrinkle In Time, but I could be wrong), and in the book a young man told a young lady "brown eyed blondes look good in green". Being a brown eyed blonde, green quickly became my favorite color. LOL

I love different shades of gray (not the book 🤭) that is one color that is soothing to my eyes, and it's not loud or dizzying. I also like turquoise as an accent color. But like everyone my faves have changed over the years. And Char, my favorite book as a kid was a A Wrinkle in Time also 👍

I have trouble choosing one color. So my favorite color is more of a theme. I explain it as Where the redwoods meet the ocean.
That atmosphere I find the most relaxing and the most appealing.
Although I know Big Foot could be behind me. ;o)

I am getting ready to do a virtual Knit/Chat/Pray with my friend Mabel via Zoom. She's joining me at 10:30 EST (Thursday April 2) . If anyone is interested in joining, Message me. I don't post the link publicly. I'll probably be on there until about noon.

PurlgirlButtons - a word of caution about using Zoom. I was thinking of using it too for my knitting group but there are some questions about its security.

I am using a thinner cotton (I think it is considered 8/4 cotton) for the “warp” - The strings that go forward and backward. It is thin like doily cotton but softer. I am using I love this cotton for the “weft” - the left to right strands.

It looks great and like it's so much fun. I am curious, is the fabric really flexible like regular towels or a little more stiff like a table runner or placemat?
