A palindrome is something which reads the same, both forward and backward. Essentially, it is reversible.
Today’s date, February 2nd, 2020 (or 2nd February, 2020) is a palindrome: 02 02 2020
Here is a free knitting pattern for a Palindrome Cable Scarf, courtesy of designer Kristin Bellehumeur, as posted on her website Come To Silver.
She has also created a knitting pattern for a matching Palindrome Hat.
Very clever, beautiful designs!
Also easy to knit, as the foundation for knitting reversible cables is… ribbing!
@qfknit - OH! I have some yarn I think will work lovely with this. Um… I must say - I believe I will be knitting a palindrome cable scarf today. All other crafts pushed aside! LOL
Your version of the Palindrome scarf looks GREAT, @Char !
I like the extra width. Will your scarf be a straight scarf or a loop/circle/infinity scarf…?
I really like the Red Heart Unforgettable yarn…
Fabulous colorways!
It is, as you say, very soft yarn.
Also light weight, feathery, yet warm. Very luxurious effect.
On the downside, it is a roving yarn and occasionally I find thin/thick parts which I hesitate to cut out, as it would impact the ombre color progression. But all in all, the results achieved with Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable yarn are extraordinary, and well worth any extra effort.
Love your scarf, thanks for sharing the beginning photo!
Looking forward to seeing the completed project.
I think it will perfect to wear as we head into spring.
@qfknit I am going to make this as a scarf for a friend’s birthday in May. She loves soft scarfs, and this is (as you said) very lightweight and should be suitable for spring wear.
I am not cutting out the inconsistencies and it seems to be working out ok.
I came across an interesting black stripe in the yarn yesterday. An additional black stripe isn’t apparent so it could be an interesting design element.
Ohhh, I like it!
I find the Red Heart Unforgettable yarn to be reminiscent of hand-dyed, in that there such variations.
NICE!
