August 2021 Sock KAL - Finished Posts Only - NO CHAT Posts

This thread is for your finished socks. Posts should be finished socks only but you may give compliments as Comments below the post. We do this to make it easier to pick a winner with a random number generator. Please feel free to chat away in our Sock KAL Chat thread.

We have a prize drawing at the end of each month. The prize winner is selected by random number generator and each entry is a chance to win the prize. You are eligible for up to four entries. Please make a seperate post for each entry. You may post the following entries:
    1. Picture of the first finished sock (or two through the heels). Any socks started this month count.
    2. Picture of a completed pair. Any socks completed this month count. Socks started before the beginning of the month may be finished and entered as a completed pair.
    3. Picture of a finished pair that uses a pattern that goes with the monthly theme. Please include the name of your pattern and how it coordinates with the theme.
    4. Picture of a finished pair that uses the featured color.
Our theme this month is: Creative ways to disguise "ugly" yarn.

Color: The ugliest yarn in your stash. Ugly is in the eye of the beholder so you choose which one you think is ugly.

Our prize this month is a skein of Debbie Bliss Rialto Luxury sock yarn.

I've been working on designing this "dragon scale" lace for my daughter-in-law's birthday present for the past week, but I purposely didn't start work on knitting them until after midnight on the 1st. Can I just say how much I LOVE making socks for my friends and family members with tiny feet? I couldn't finish a sock for my massive clodhoppers in 48 hours if I did nothing else, but a size 6 ankle sock, I can manage, and still have time to eat and sleep! 😂

Spice2s They're even prettier in person, I promise! The colors are kind of washed out in the picture. I wouldn't have thought to put the two together, but I let my dil choose what she wanted and she chose this pretty lightly variegated violet and seafoam green and they are absolutely gorgeous together. 💜💚

My completed Dragon Scale Lace socks. Since they are for my daughter-in-law's birthday present, I let her choose the colors she wanted, so no ugly yarn here!

I just completed two socks through the heels. A bad photo. I think this is my ugly color for the month. A plain vanilla summer shorty pair.

I got one pair through the heels. This is the pair that I started this month. The unblocked lace looks so messy in the photo, plus I had to take it in my car. I'm not making these very tall so I should finish them soon.

Ah okay, thanks for the heads up. I will probably get a couple of them because it really is perfect for my lifestyle and I'll probably use it outside most of the time but I'll have to be able to use it inside in bad weather so I appreciate the tip.

Thank you FreedomLover they are almost finished now. I would have already finished them if I hadn't gotten distracted by starting my hats for sailors project. Lol

I guess I forgot to post these in the Finished Thread.
TAH DAH! I even won my yarn chicken! (sort of) I have another ball to make a second pair, maybe not so crazy as these.

Finished! These are the ones I actually started this month. I'm not going to finish the other pair that I started before Gini got sick. Not enough of this yarn to make another pair. I'm alternating a little sock work with a little "hats for sailors" work so I may finish a second pair but not holding my breath. And I'm actually finally getting through some stash! Win/win! Not gonna try to claim color or theme as I find this to be a pretty yarn. Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_20210825_171744__01__01.jpg Views:	0 Size:	253.7 KB ID:	109943

I started these while on a road trip a few weeks ago, finished them in the camper last night. Was just using up some leftovers, so they don't fit the theme this month ... but they're socks!

lovestostitch No! This is my "happy place" where we come every September. But now that the hubs is retired, we tacked on a 2nd week starting in August. It's been WINDY and a little too warm for my liking up until now, but today is just drop-dead gorgeous.

DJM You can, it is really cute and much cuter in person! The horrible yarn looks gorgeous with the solid brown.

FreedomLover Thanks! I'm going to have to take them outside tomorrow to get a better picture because none of the ones I took do them justice.

Too windy to do much at the camper yesterday other than knit (what a shame, eh?!). Two done through the heels. Not ugly yarn, but a merry mixup!

After doing almost nothing but eating, sleeping, and knitting for about 36 hours, I finished the second ugly sock! I really do love them, they came out so pretty! I will have to try to get a picture in the sunlight tomorrow so you can see better how pretty they are. The picture of the first sock is much more true to the real colors, this one came out terribly. I finished sewing the last end in just before midnight my time, but it took a bit to get things cleared up to where I could take the picture. If it's too late for the entries, that's fine, but I definitely wanted to share the finished Ugly Duckling socks!
